Most bugs aren't really bugs but lack of memory problems or running under new operating systems like Windows 95. 04/08/96 - v1.05 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- Have seen a couple DIZ Makers lately and I liked the idea so have added it to PFED. Tag all disks in a set and press ALT+A. You will be prompted for program name, release date, and # of disks in the release. You can customize the output using a macro text file 'FILE_ID.DAT'. You can use 4 different macros and add your group or company logo to this file. The PFED DIZ-maker also inserts the new FILE_ID.DIZ into the tagged file(s). Example: |NM[29] DiSK [|CD of |TD] - Logo goes here - RELEASE [|DT] DIZ-maker macros: |NM - Program name |CD - Current disk |DT - Release date |TD - Total # disks ■- Also fixed some bugs with adding FILE_ID.DIZ using the description: 1) If using Add DIZ to archive 'CTRL+A' and the archive had a file_id.diz and FILE_ID.DIZ it would cause PFED to lock up - Fixed (SkyGod) 2) It also now won't attempt to add a DIZ to an offline file. (Steve Dowd) 3) It now prompts 'Add DIZ using description' Yes/No before proceeding. - When NUKING files or giving credit and the user's bytes were greater than 2,147,483,647 bytes PFED would erase # - Fixed. (Capt. Caveman) - When NUKING files and entering the Nuke Factor, enter = 1. (Like it says) - Couldn't insert a new area before the PCB upload directory - Fixed. - When adopting files sometimes long descs symbol '' wasn't displayed. ■- Added pull-down menu to the file area menu. Use '/' or left/right cursor arrows to access. Requires AREAMENU.DAT to be in the PFED dir. 02/09/96 - v1.04 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- Added Pull-down menus for the file directory. Use '/' or left/right cursor arrows to access. Helps since there's over 60 commands and I can't remember half of them. Helps remote co-sysops too. Make sure to extract new 'DIRMENU.DAT' file. - Added <T>ouch tagged file dates. This changes the actual file date to the date uploaded. Also <ALT+D> change upload dates changes all tagged files to the date entered. (Enter=Today's date) It will also 'touch' the actual file dates if desired. Make sure to extract new BOOMDOS.EXE. - After a lockup, power loss, etc... If you used existing index files sometimes old deleted or moved files would reappear - Fixed. (Iron Steal) - If you deleted files inside the file viewer it would update filesize but it wouldn't automatically save the DIR when exiting - Fixed. (Me) - If using F-Prot to get virus names (ALT+V) it now scans all files. (Falcon) ■- BOOMLAB v.71 - MAJOR BUG: Any file to be zapped that contained a path error BOOMLAB out with a Error #5 - Fixed. (Fiat) - If there was a blank line in the Random BBS Ad text file it would cause any text file in the archive to be deleted - Fixed, now must contain a minimum of 3 characters. (Fiat) - 'List of files NEVER to be ZAPPED' now supports wildcards. (Aeon&Flux) 12/28/95 - v1.03 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- Setup now has a main menu so you don't have to go through each section to change what you want to change. ■- Added new key for tagged files in the file directory. <ALT+R> renames all tagged filenames to the CD-ROM ISO naming convention. Examples: PFED-1.ZIP = PFED_1.ZIP $PFED!.ZIP to PFED.ZIP (SkyGod) - <ALT+F> renames ALL filenames in DIR to CD-ROM naming convention. ■- BOOMLAB BUG: Sometimes files contained in paths were deleted that were not found in the ZAP FILES list-Fixed. (Aeon&Flux) 11/28/95 - v1.02 - minor update ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- Added support for the new Tri-BBS v10.0. (Jim Scialdone) ■- BSETUP.EXE was merged into PSETUP.EXE just to get the PFED_.ZIP smaller. - Added a new option in PSETUP: 'Allow FAT files moves'. So if the FAT moves were messing up your FAT table you can now turn them off. ■- BOOMLAB v.70 - If a FILE_ID.DIZ is in a path inside the archive it will now use it if there is no FILE_ID.DIZ in the main dir. (Stratocaster) - If BOOMLAB has to move a file (to bad path or using move option with LOCAL switch) it will now check if it was moved ok before deleting source file. - F-Prot scan all files switch was corrected to /ALL from /A. (Falcon) 10/18/95 - v1.01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- If you re-processed a file in PFED that had no FILE_ID.DIZ it would leave only the first line of the old description. The problem was i didn't want duplicate archive stats, uploader name, passed by text, and uploaded by text. And i figured that the uploader would of only left a 1 line desc. Got too many complaints so now the previous description will remain intact and any lines added will be checked to see if it's already there, BUT sometimes you'll get uploader name or stats twice if theres no DIZ. ■- DUPE CHECKER & MASTER LIST prompts for what conferences/areas to process. ■- BUG: Didn't show rez's for a lot of JPG's - Fixed ■- BOOMLAB v.69a - Added 4 GIF/JPG macros: |GI = Type/Version, |GW = Width, |GH = Height, |GC = # colors. Can be used with the new 'Add GIF/JPG info to desc' macro file (Bsetup pg #4) to add the type & resolution to desc. Ex: |gi - [|gwX|ghX|gc] Adds: GIF v.89a - [320X200X256] - Added more space to define 'Uploaded by' string. (J. Lowrey) - If 'Replace DIZ if stripped' is enabled and only blank lines are stripped the DIZ will not be replaced. ■- BOOMLAB v.69 - Added option 'Add a DIZ if none found' (BSetup Pg #2) If enabled a FILE_ID.DIZ will be created using the uploader's file description and it will be inserted into the archive. - BUG: When uncompressed files are compressed only the 1st description line was kept - Fixed. (Doyen/Keith Winter) - BUG: If using 'Framing' option and file was not a archive or didn't have a FILE_ID.DIZ it wasn't framed. Now uses uploader's description. (J. Lowrey) - If uploading files locally from inside PCBoard then LOCAL options will apply such as 'Dupe Check Local UL's' and 'Add Uploader to Local UL'. (v1.001 - 10/04/95) ■- ALT+M from any screen changes the graphics mode (25,43, or 50 lines) ■- Added <E>dit text file in archive viewer, requires external text editor in setup. Will prompt whether to replace edited file back into archive. ■- If using Nuker/Bonus/Warning system you can now Abort with <Esc>, it also now won't let you enter negative #'s for nuke/bonus factor. (Bug Lord) Also now won't write mail if uploader is not not known. (Capt. Caveman) ■- BUG: Clone file descriptions 'K' & 'CTRL+K' didn't work - Fixed. BUG: Scanning for files didn't support PCB's ..\ dirs -Fixed (Wildchild) BUG: If using previous index files it didn't write new DIR when exiting. BUG: Under some circumstances uploader name & archive info wasn't added to file description when processing <A>ll - Fixed. (Madman Trapper) 09/22/95 - v1.00 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- In the past if PFED errored out or you lost power or something you would lose all the editing you had done in a DIR. PFED will now check if the previous index files exist and ask if you wish to use them. ■- '=' key adds GIF and now adds JFIF/JPEG (.JPG) resolution to the description, minus colors if JPG. Ex: [640x480] (Jorg Pitts) - Added 'Y' key, it uses DOS's COMP (Compare) to compare highlighted file to a specified file. I use it to compare virus files to eliminate dupes. ■- PFEDMAIL v.02 - Added support if you use '../' for paths. (WildChild) Added better error detection, so if doesn't run you at least it tells why. Can now <E>nter a simple message from the PFEDMAIL main menu. ■- BUG: <+> importing files had some display bugs - Fixed. - BUG: Help displayed in 25 line mode even if PFED was in 43 or 50 line mode. - BUG: Fixed some BOOMLAB display bugs dealing with ZAPPING bbs ads. - BUG: BOOMLAB would Fatal Error #5 when processing a .COM over 50K -Fixed. - Took out /OLD swith for F-PROT, registered version won't accept it. (Fiat) - Added BBS BOOMLAB support for TBWEEDER. TBWEEDER is used by virus BBS's to eliminate duplicate .EXE & .COM files that have been renamed. If a dupe is uploaded it will be deleted and no credit given. (Falcon) - Added support for AVPLite v2.2 virus scanner, uses a lot less memory than regular AVP. Should now be able to use it from PFED. (Falcon) (v.992 - 09/12/95) - MAJOR BUG: If after using the <C>opy command you use the <D>elete command PFED deleted all files tagged PLUS any files copied! - Fixed. - Editing Descriptions: Added partial line wrap-around using <Delete> key. - Added <A> in DOS viewer, it adds tagged files to a specified archive. Format determined by file extension. ARJ/LZH/RAR or ZIP (Default=.ZIP) - When ncompressing files to diskette, PFED asks 'ERASE any files on disk' - BUG: File viewer couldn't delete files w/o extensions - Fixed. - BUG: PFEDMAIL.EXE sometimes didn't work when reading CNAMES.@@@-Fixed? ■- BOOMLAB v.68 - Added a setup option (Pg #4) to set 'Path to LOG files'. - Added 'ZAP filenames containing Hi-bit chars (Pg #1) If enabled any file containing hi-bit ASC characters in their filenames will be deleted. - Included a new display file for showing progress to user: PCBUSER2.ANS It uses 2 new macros |PM (Progress meter) & |PP (%) to show progress. It now reads the macro file displays it once then only updates anything following a 'LOOP_' each time. LOOP_5H|bm[34] - BOOMLAB now checks integrity of TeleDisk .TD0 files. Requires TDCHECK.EXE. - BUG: BOOMLAB would try ZIPing a file if it had no extension. (Keith Winter) - PROBLEM: If a virus name started with "POSSIBLY A VARIANT OF ","DAMAGED ", "SEEMS TO BE A ", or "DROPPER OF " it wasn't displayed - Fixed. (Falcon) (v.991 - 08/26/95) ■- BUG: If no reg key was found, BOOMLAB would error at some point - Fixed. - BUG: If using smart-shrink desc , it displayed desc of next file - Fixed. ■- BOOMLAB v.67 - PKZIP will try and use the Novell Netware server CPU when possible, which can cause files to be corrupted or doubles their size. Added option to disable use of server CPU on page #4 of BSETUP. (Bionic) - Can age test by percentage, if a % files are older than age check, then the file will fail. Enter in the format %75 or %50. (Iron Steal) 08/23/95 v0.99 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■- Added PFEDMAIL v.01 utility. It is used to send PcBoard E-Mail directly from PFED concerning NUKED files or giving BONUS CREDIT/WARNINGS. Enable it on page #2 of PSETUP, also enter the conference # where mail should be left. Mail macro files NUKE.MSG, BONUS.MSG, & WARNING.MSG can be used to design your own mail. (see PFED.DOC under 'FILE E-MAIL' for details) - PFEDMAIL can also view mail for a highlighted conference with the key at the main conf menu. As of now it can only view/kill/edit header info. ■- Opening/Exit Screens have been replaced. The binary TheDraw screens i used was using caused problems with too many people. These should work 100%. - Added file directory key <ALT+D> which changes all tagged file dates to any date specified. (Phat Phreddy) - key from the main help menu prints docs without any @X codes. (Scufi) ■- BOOMLAB v.66 - You can now define different config files by adding it to the command line. Ex: BSETUP CONF1.CFG Name MUST include extension .CFG Then add the full path & filename to the config path in PCBTEST.BAT file. You can also use the following 2 macros on the command line so you can use different config files for conference or node file was uploaded to: @uc - Conference # file was uploaded to. @un - Node # file was uploaded to. Ex: BOOMLAB D:\PFED\CONF@UC.CFG UPLOAD %2 %1 %3 D:\PCB ^^^^^^^^^^^ - Added a new BOOMLAB macro |uc = conference # file was upload to. - If a uploaded text file has a FILE_ID.DIZ description embedded in it (@BEGIN_FILE_ID.DIZ) BOOMLAB can now extract it. (Qube) - McAfee's SCAN uses DDA-Direct Disk Access, not allowed under Windows '95 so I've added a option to disable it on page #3 of BSETUP. (Dark Visage) (v983 - 08/14/95) - BUG: When NUKING files using 'same inputs for all' and restoring credit to downloaders, next file showed last downloader as uploader -Fixed(Babyvet) - BUG: When NUKING files sometimes bytes nuked wasn't correct -Fixed. - BUG: Graphics when doing <Z>ippy Scans was messed up - Fixed. - BUG: <O> key didn't restore file's date if previously offline - Fixed. - BUG: If moving ALL files from a DIR using Expert Move, PFED would error-out with 'ILLEGAL FUNCTION' - Fixed. (AntiVirus Toolkit PRO) Only works correctly if registered, may not work from PFED but will work if used from BOOMLAB. - PROBLEM: Couldn't scan non-archived files with Dr. Solomon -Fixed. (Falcon) - PROBLEM: If a virus name started with 'POSSIBLY A' or 'SEEMS TO BE AN' or 'THIS VIRUS IS LIKE' it wasn't displayed - Fixed. (Falcon) (v982 - 8/8/95) - PFED for TriBBS & BOOMER's Archive manager didn't work since v.96 -Fixed. - Added 2 setup options in PSETUP.EXE (PFED setup) 1.) Show colors when displaying full description. Displays PcBoard @X colors and if none found display's default BBS description colors. 2.) Turn Off 'Exit Area - Are You Sure' prompt when exiting DIR. - <F> key (Get File Creation Date) didn't work on local uploads - Fixed. - <G> key (Get DIZ Date) didn't work if file was NOT processed - Fixed. - <CTRL + S> sorts ZAPFILES list in archive viewer. - BOOMLAB now uses 5k less memory....well every little bit helps ;) (v981 - 8/1/95) ■ - MAJOR BUG: When adopting files and a file fails it would error-out with 'ILLEGAL FUNCTION CALL - Fixed. (Mr.Bill/Third Son) - Replace DIZ if stripped was case-sensitive - Fixed. 08/01/95 v0.98 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ■ - BOOMLAB v.65 - Added new option: Replace DIZ in archive if stripped? If lines or text are removed from a DIZ this option will replace the DIZ in the archive with new stripped DIZ. - Fixed bug with external archive converter support: DIZ description became merged with user's description. Also if using the BOOMLAB 'LOCAL' switch it would delete the entire output (DIR) file. (Jim Wilson) - BOOMLAB cannot support Norton AntiVirus 3.0+, only v2.1 is supported. ■ - FRAMING FILE DESCRIPTIONS: This option re-writes the file description using an external macro file. Can be used to 'frame' or add box graphics to the description. If using this option make sure to enable 'smart' word-wrapping. A sample macro file 'BLUEBOX' is found in SAMPLES.ZIP. To 'Frame' ALL descriptions: Enter the path to the macro file in the BOOMLAB setup under 'FILE DESCRIPTIONS' (Pg #2). 2.) To 'Frame' selected descriptions: Tag files in a DIR and press <CTRL+F>. You will prompted to enter the name of the macro file. PKZIPFIX highlighted file was <CTRL+F> is now <CTRL+R>. ■ - Added FILE STATISTICS Report: Can be run from main conf menu using <F> key or by using command line option 'STATS'. It Generates a report with total # of files and Kbytes for each area, conf, and tapes. Report is output to the file 'FILESTAT.TXT' and 'FILESTAT.PCB' which includes PCB color codes so that it may be used as a online bulletin if desired. Subswitches can limit confs & areas to be checked. Ex: PFED STATS 1-3,5 ■ - Added 4 switches to limit remote access: Ex: PFED -r -ns -c 1-10 -C or 'CONFS' = Limits conference access to remote users to the conferences listed. Ex: PFED -c 0,1-3,10 (Robert Eagle) -NC or 'NOCFG' = No conference & area configuration editing. -ND or 'NODEL' = Remote users cannot delete or nuke files. -NS or 'NOSHELL' = Do NOT allow remote users access to DOS. Cannot run setup, use DOS Shells, or Shell to DOS. (Stratocaster) ■ - Added <C> key at DIR selection screen, it adds new file area, copying configuration from another selected area. - DOWNLOAD COUNTER now skips download if date/time of download was earlier than last time counter was run. - Line one of desc still was getting chopped off if it had graphics- Fixed. - Couldn't delete descriptions or do some other functions if file had been Nuked - Fixed. (Stratocaster) 07/23/95 v0.97 ■- ADDING TAPE & SET #'S - You can use your OFF-LINE file ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ directories as a simple tape directory by adding tape & set #'s to the end of file descriptions. (See PFED.DOC) Adding Tape/Set Enable 'ADD TAPE/SET #'s WHEN MOVING FILES OFF-LINE' in #'s to descs then PFED General Setup (Pg #1) then when moving files to an offline directory PFED will prompt 'Input Tape #, Set #' and add the tape information to the end of the file desc when moving it. The offline directory must start with 'OFF' for PFED to recognize it as such. - You can manually add tape & set #'s for tagged files in a file directory using the <ALT + T> keys. ■- BOOMLAB v.64 - Lot of people where getting ERROR #75's. This was caused by the FILE_ID.DIZ from SCN_224E.ZIP It couldn't be deleted so following files errored out. 'ATTRIB +A -R' resets it - Fixed. (Qube/Stratocaster) ■- If archiver program wasn't found or couldn't run BOOMLAB exited with FATAL ERROR #53. BOOMLAB now reports why. - Added support for external archive converters. Internal External Archive converter doesn't support paths & only converts to ZIP's Converters so external converter may be desired. (See BOOMLAB.DOC) - Added macros |fp = file path, |ff = full path & filename. - After repack, archive not recognized by PCB v15.1+ -Fixed. - RAR formats can now be repacked to ZIP. (Mr. Fixit) ■- <J> from any menu now jumps to a selected conference. - Added <S>earch for text in help menus. - Increased max # areas in dupe checker from 100 => 500. (J. Benton) - Changed BS Stats screen if sysop is using PCB credits. (Boxcar) - Line 1 of desc didn't allow room for color codes - Fixed. - List all your CD-ROM drives in PSETUP so PFED won't check these for free space or try to delete dupes. (Mr.Bill) - Removed Operating System from PSETUP as it's obsolete. - SHRINK & SORT didn't work from command line -Fixed.(Skelem) ■- Added 'Smart-Shrink'. PFED will attempt to locate the line with program name when shrinking file descs. 'Smart-Shrink' To enable set question #10 in PSETUP to 'Y' if not enabled it will continue only to use 1st line. ■- BOOMLAB v.63 - Graphics for Failed file descriptions can External FAILED now be added from external file 'DESCFAIL.MSG'. All Descriptions macros supported. A sample can be found in SAMPLES.ZIP. - Added BSETUP option, 'Quit Scanning after virus detected' If using multiple scanners, 'Y' quits after any virus detected. 'N' runs all scanners. (See BOOMLAB.DOC) - Added 2 new macros for multiple scanners, |s# & |v#. |s1,|s2,|s3 etc - Program name & version for each scanner. |v1,|v2,|v3 ... - Virus Scan results for each scanner. - Added support for Norton AntiVirus. Tested with v2.1 - Large USERS file caused BOOMLAB to error #63 when trying to get PCBALIAS info - Fixed? (Old Gringo) - If virus detected and the name of virus not found BOOMLAB reported 'PASSED' now reports 'VIRUS INFECTED!' - Description files in paths caused problems, BOOMLAB now won't attempt to read any DIZ that is in a path. - Can now not only <S>trip MCI | pipe colors but <C>onvert them to PCBoard's @X color codes. (Phreak Creep) 07/07/95 v0.96 ■- Can now have unlimited # of conferences. Conference data ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ is kept in 'CONFS.DAT' instead of loaded into memory. Unlimited Confs - Added <J> key at the conference menu to Join or Jump to a conference #. For those BBS's with LOTS of confs. ■- When adopting files you can use a 3rd date type for upload date: <G> = Get FILE_ID.DIZ's date. - Added <CTRL+D> key in file dir to tag all files with a date older than date entered. Shell to DOS is now <ALT+X> New Keys - <E> in the archive viewer allows user to edit ZAP FILES list with external text editor. (if defined in PSETUP) - <ALT+1> Compresses tagged file descriptions to 1 line. Searches for the line with version # or disk set #'s - <F7> sets the user-defined BOOMLAB rocessing options. - Display file info now shows more data about file. - Added PFED version # to the main screen. ■- When NUKING files & the DOWNLOAD.TXT is used to search for uploader name or restore credit, upload date must agree with DOWNLOAD.TXT date to use info. Prevents using data from a earlier upload of same file. (Babyvet) ■- CRCTEST.BAT didn't support .RAR - Fixed. (Mr. Humble) - Fixed some help menu bugs, added to run BOOMLAB help. - In some enviroments when adopting files the <F> key (use file date) didn't work, SHOULD now work correctly. - Fix some problems using <CTRL+S> key (save & continue) while in file dir. It errored or might add old descs. - DOWNLOAD COUNTER was adding blank lines to 1 line descs. - Fixed nasty bug where if BOOMLAB Fails a PCB Mail ATTACHed file and you were using FILESYS.PPE = PCBoard Locked up. 06/21/95 v0.95 ■- Added a online help system for PFED & BOOMLAB. All docs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ have been re-done and they actually may be of some use now ;) Press F1, it will either display the help menu ONLINE HELP or section dealing with area you are in. If in a section you can do <M> for help menu. You can also do PFED ? or BOOMLAB ? from DOS to access the help menu. Both setup programs now have help support. ■- Added DIR SHRINKING. This option compresses file descs for for multi-disk sets in a DIR. All descs will be reduced to only 1 line, the last file will contain the full desc. DIR SHRINKING Shrinking can be done from the DOS command line or from in PFED. From the file area menu do <CTRL+S> for the highlighted area. From inside the file directory do <ALT+S> for the tagged files. From command line use the switch 'SHRINK' as in 'PFED SHRINK'. (Mr.Bill) Example: DISK1.ZIP - THIS IS DISK [1/3] - DISK2.ZIP - THIS IS DISK [2/3] - DISK3.ZIP - THIS IS DISK [3/3] - This is a example of the DIR shrinker. Shows only last description of a set. Files: 4, New: 06/13/95, Old: 06/13/95 Uploaded by: Gene Layton ■- Added <CTRL+C> - adjusts upper/lower case of all tagged Adjust CASE file descs. It converts case to 1)Proper Case, 2)lower case, or 3)UPPER CASE. - <ALT+X> in the file directory now Shells to DOS. ■- When using 'Get Virus Descs' key <ALT+V> long virus names are now word-wrapped. (Misfit) - When adding file's description as a FILE_ID.DIZ if it already contained a DIZ, file date will be preserved. - Multiple CD-ROM's slowed the free space check, PFED now won't check for free space on CDROM drives. (Mr.Bill) - PCBoard allows use of "..\" as the PCB main dir directory. Caused PFED to bomb. PFED replaces it with path to PCBOARD.DAT path entered in the setup.
